Updating escd success verifying dmi pool data

I have tried to look around and figure out what this is but can't figure it out.

It is a brand new Gigabyte motherboard with AMD 790X chipset and an AMD Phenom II processor.

If you get this message (or a subtle variant thereof) on your computer screen just before it locks up on you than you could have a pretty seriously problem on your hands.

As always the best way to figure out the problem is to work the problem carefully and methodically!

Failing that, you could test the hard drive in another system.

But sometimes, when a system is fired up, it reaches this stage of the POST (it usually says "Building DMI pool" or "Verifying DMI pool data") and then hangs.

It's easy to tell if it's hanging; normally the DMI building process takes only a few seconds.

It could also mean, that your mainboard is having some trouble reading from the hard drive.

I had a similar problem when I had a USB stick attached and it wanted to boot/read from there first.
